Mentally unstable man jumps to death from 19th floor
A 54-year-old Gamdevi resident, Kazil Patel, committed suicide by jumping off from the 19th floor of a building at Altamount Road on Thursday.

Patel was undergoing treatment for schizophrenia. No suicide note was found, the police said.
According to Sanjay Mohite, deputy commissioner of police, Patel, a bachelor, was staying with his sister and brother in-law Dinshaw Hansotia at The Pushpak building.
“The building’s watchmen heard a thud and found Patel lying on the floor in a pool of blood,” said Mohite.
The police have registered a case of accidental death as no sign of struggle was found in the flat. Police said Patel was undergoing treatment by a psychiatrist in south Mumbai since last eight years for depression.
His sister and brother in-law were in different rooms when Patel jumped to his death from the drawing room.
“No one saw him jump,” said Sanjay Diwadkar, senior police inspector, Gamdevi police station. Police said Patel’s sister was in the bathroom when the incident occurred.
The body was sent to JJ Hospital for a post mortem.
“Patel was suffering from a chronic shizophrenia and hallucinations and had made suicide attempts in the past,” said Diwadkar.
“We do not suspect any foul play. It is a clear suicide case,” he added.
