A security guard of a school in Antop Hill was arrested on Thursday, for allegedly sexually assaulting a Class 2 student inside the campus a day earlier.
Mukesh Krishnanand Mishra, 40, was booked for rape and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
The girl’s father said the incident took place after the seven-year-old attended extra classes, between 11.30am and 12.30pm, before school hours on Wednesday. The girl was waiting near the security guard’s chair for school to start, when Mishra molested her.
“The chair is near the school gate, which is six feet high. When the gates are shut, nobody from outside can see anything,” the girl’s father told HT.
The security guard allegedly lured her to come close and then molested her, after which she ran into her classroom on the first floor. The accused allegedly followed the girl and warned her against telling anyone. The girl attended school, went for her tuition classes and told her grandmother about the incident only on Wednesday evening, the police said.
The girl’s father and some others then caught hold of Mishra and handed him over to the Antop Hill police on Thursday morning.
“Mishra joined the school three months ago. He will be produced before a court on Friday,” said ST Juikar, police sub inspector, Antop Hill police station.
