Both leaders held separate meetings with party’s Maharashtra state in charge Venkaiah Naidu rather than meeting each other.
While many looked at this as Gadkari’s attempt to avoid a confrontation, a close Gadkari aide gave two reasons for not having one-to-one meeting with Munde; firstly, Gadkari had returned from his Uttarakhand trip only in the evening and secondly, he had authorised Naidu to hear out Munde’s concerns and take a decision accordingly.
This is seen as Gadkari-Munde clash in the party with Munde wanting a dominant role in the Maharashtra BJP affairs and questioning the appointment of a Gadkari loyalist as party’s Pune unit chief.
