“The final post-mortem report states that the boy had been sodomised over a period of time. But he had not been sodomised on the day he was murdered,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone VII) Sanjay Shintre told Hindustan Times on Tuesday. “We suspect that the person who sodomised the deceased could be linked to the murder.”

Rohit Singh (4), a resident of Sakinaka, Rohit had gone missing after he went out to play on Sunday afternoon. When he did not return home, his parents filed a missing person’s complaint at the Sakinaka police station.

When the watchman reported to work at 6 pm, he found the boy with his throat slit in his cabin.

The Ghatkopar police have also detained four men in connection with the murder. Inspector Uttam Kolekar confirmed: “We are questioning the four men who have been detained.” The police are also questioning locals, including vendors in the area.

Rohit had been admitted to nursery earlier this year.
