Sheikh said that he was forced to approach the court as both the state and the Khar police station were favouring Nitesh.

“Nitesh has not been arrested despite a case of an attempt to murder being registered against him,” said Sheikh.

Sheikh, who was a member of Swabhimaan, the NGO headed by Nitesh, had alleged that he was shot by Nitesh at his office at Khar on Thursday. Nitesh, however, refused to comment on Sheikh’s decision to seek the court’s intervention. Meanwhile, members of Swabhimaan, started a public campaign in Nitesh’s support.

Swabhiman's publicist said the campaign was endorsed

by celebrities like Vinod Kambli, and Sunil Shetty. “My supporters want to show they still stand by me,” said Nitesh.
