Nooriya granted bail in 2010 case of drink driving

US national Nooriya Haveliwala was granted bail by the Bombay high court on Friday, after the bench observed that it would be a while before the appeal she had filed against her conviction in the 2010 drink-driving case would be heard. HT reports.

US national Nooriya Haveliwala was granted bail by the Bombay high court on Friday, after the bench observed that it would be a while before the appeal she had filed against her conviction in the 2010 drink-driving case would be heard.

Haveliwala’s counsel had arg-ued that bail should be granted in “short” cases, where the accu-sed was convicted for less than seven or five years in prison.

Haveliwala had been given a five-year term after two people died and four were injured in the accident.
