One held for assaulting man in Vakola

A man, who was part of a group, which allegedly hit a man with an iron rod at Vakola, was arrested on Sunday night. The victim sustained grievous head injuries, the police said.

Rupesh Gosavi, 21, and his friend Sameer Sheikh were heading home when three residents from his area, Rupesh Margaj, 29, Kishore Kamble and Kalpesh Kamble confronted him about a previous incident and slapped him. When Gosavi questioned Margaj, Kalpesh hit him with an iron rod.

Sheikh rushed Gosavi to VN Desai Hospital. Margaj has been arrested while Kishore and Kalpesh are absconding.

“It is a cognisable case since the victim was assaulted with a weapon,” said senior inspector Anil Kharade.
