Himanshu Roy, joint commissioner of police, crime, said this was revealed by Pankaj Patel, 22, the fifth accused who was arrested on Thursday night.

Pankaj is the son of a forest guard posted at the national park. His elder brother Prashant was arrested earlier in the case.

Roy said that Pankaj had confessed to having sold earlier three leopard skins for Rs3-4 lakh each after the wild cats were poached from the national park.

He also disclosed the names of other persons involved in poaching the cats over the past two years, crime branch sources said.

The poachers, Pankaj claimed, live in and around the park area in Borivli.
