“We have registered a case against 250 workers from both parties, including Revenue minister Narayan Rane and Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, who were present at Dadar station,” said inspector Pramod Koparde.

In a bid to claim credit for flagging off the Ganpati Special train from Dadar to Sawantwadi on Tuesday at 10.30 pm, workers from both parties started shouting slogans. “Things got ugly when they started pelting stones,” said Sunil Deshmukh, senior police inspector.

Police said the special train had to be flagged off twice as both, Sena and Congress, got on to the tracks and stopped the train. The train finally departed at 1.30 am — 45 minutes behind schedule.
