Sena seeks Governor's intervention over LBT implementation

The Shiv Sena on Thursday sought Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan's intervention to prevail upon the State Government to stop the implementation of the Local Body Tax (LBT).

A 10-member Sena delegation, led by senior leader Subhash Desai on Thursday met the Governor at Raj Bhavan and urged him to prevail upon the State Government to stop the implementation of the LBT.

The delegation, comprising Sena Group leader in the Legislative Council Diwakar Raote and Mayor Sunil Prabhu told the Governor that the continued strike by the traders, merchants and shopkeepers on the issue of LBT was affecting the common people.

They requested the Governor to intervene to end the strike.

A Raj Bhawan statement said the Governor has assured the delegation that he will discuss the matters raised by the delegation with Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan.
