Six held for cheating senior citizens

Mira road police officials on Saturday arrested six people for cheating morning walkers and senior citizens by posing as policemen. The accused have at least 40 cases against them across police stations in Mumbai and Thane region, the police said, reports HT Correspondent.

Mira road police officials on Saturday arrested six people for cheating morning walkers and senior citizens by posing as policemen. The accused have at least 40 cases against them across police stations in Mumbai and Thane region, the police said on Tuesday.

“The accused would go to a park and tell morning walkers that there has been a murder in the area and that the assailants are still at large,” said Police sub-inspector Anand Bhoir.

“They would pose as police in civil clothes and ask people to hand over their cash and valuables to them for safety and take them back when they are done with the walking.” The accused would then take then flee. The police laid a trap after a tip-off and arrested the accused.
