Six of a family killed as dumper plunges into river near Manor

Six members of a family, including two women and three children, lost their lives after a dumper they were travelling in plunged into a river while crossing a bridge at the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway in the early hours of Wednesday.

Six members of a family, including two women and three children, lost their lives after a dumper they were travelling in plunged into a river while crossing a bridge at the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway in the early hours of Wednesday. Fourteen people were injured in the accident.

The police said that there were 22 people in the dumper. They were returning home to a village called Boat in Manor after attending a wedding at Virar.

According to the police, the driver, Sudam Bohire (40), was speeding and lost control of the vehicle at the Varai bridge built over the Vandri river close to Sahiwali village in Manor.

The police said that the 14 injured persons were rushed to the Manor Grameen Rugnalaya. Nine were discharged after preliminary aid was administered, while the remaining five were taken later to Bhagwati hospital.
