Aditya lived at the railway colony in Wadi Bunder near Sandhurst Road. His father, Ramjeet, is a railway employee.

At 10.30am, Aditya's parents took him to the Byculla railway hospital. While Aditya was being administered polio drops, his mother underwent a routine check-up.

As they stepped out of the hospital, Aditya, who was unescorted, was run over by a speeding BEST bus. Locals caught the driver, Anandrao Mohite, and handed him over to the Byculla police. "Aditya was their first child after 10 years of marriage," said a neighbour.

"Mohite has been booked for causing death due to negligence," said Jaywant R Sarmokadam, assistant commissioner of police (Agripada division).
