Chavan called for the blacklisting of civic contractors who had failed to clean the clogged drains in the city.

“I agree that not all the work on nullahs and gutters is satisfactory and many are not able to meet deadlines. Contractors who cannot keep up with the conditions should be blacklisted,” Chavan told the Legislative Council on the third day of the Legislature’s budget session.

His deputy, Ajit Pawar, told the Assembly that the state would constitute a committee to probe the allegations of financial misappropriation against the trustees of Lilavati Hospital in Bandra.

When the Opposition in the Council alleged that there was a Rs10,000-crore scam in a redevelopment project by Shivalik Builders in Golibar, Santacruz, minister of state for housing Sachin Ahir said that the government would investigate it if the Opposition gave evidence.
