Home Minister R.R. Patil has said that the state government will buy 29 new speedboats from January.

Patil, who has announced a number of proposals to equip the police to fight modern terror, said he has taken up the responsibility of the Home department to “guard Maharashtra from evil eyes”.
Patil was in Navi Mumbai on Thursday to commission the state’s 11th speedboat that has been given to the Navi Mumbai police to guard its coast.
“The central government has promised us 28 speedboats of which we have received 11,” said Patil. “The state government too will start procuring 29 speedboats from January.”
The home minister said technical problems with the speedboats, purchased after the 26/11 terror attacks, were being sorted out. “We will also equip the Coast Guard, Navy and the police with the requisite infrastructure,” he said. He added that 15,000 personnel will be recruited this year.
