Tata to compensate Bombay House victims like it did those of 26/11

The Tata Group is considering a compensation package for the families of the victims of Wednesday’s fire at Bombay House, more or less on the lines of what was offered to the families of the Taj employees who died in the 26/11 attack, a source close to the group said.

The compensation could be in the range of Rs 50-80 lakh.

As in the case of the terror attack victims, dependents of the three victims of Wednesday's fire may get the employee’s full last salary for life.

The company is also likely to take care of the education of the children of the victims, sponsoring their studies anywhere in the world.

There could also be a full medical facility offered to the family and dependents for the rest of their lives.

Any loans or advances taken by the employees from the company could be waived.

“The company will respond to the victims’ families in a responsible manner,” a source close to the company said.
