He was addressing a group of school and college principals at a discussion on ‘Students suicides and the role of education institutions’ at Parel on Friday.

This month about 20 students from schools and colleges all over Maharashtra have committed suicide. In many cases pressure of studies has emerged as the reason of suicide. “The teaching methods in the education system will be changed,” said Patil.

He added that competition has become a part of life. “It is time that children live in a healthy atmosphere both in the house and the school, which will lead to having a healthy society in future,” Patil added.
