He identified the accused as Tabrez alias Tabbu Darvesh Mohammed Khan (21), Arshad Mir Aslam Khan alias Sonu (16) and Darvesh Parvesh Khan (22). They were handed over to the Aarey sub-police station.

The police said that Sonu, a resident of Filterpada in Goregaon (East) suspected that Sawant, his neighbour, was having an affair with his mother. With an intention to teach him a lesson, Sonu ganged up with his friends. The three kept watch on Sawant for a month.

On September 21, they abducted Sawant and then took him to the Jambori Maidan in Aarey Park and strangulated him.

Later they slit his throat. They then buried his body there. The police have exhumed the body and sent it for forensic tests.
