In the first incident, unidentified persons burgled the house of Rajrani Bhandari, 82, in Andheri and made away with gold jewellery worth around Rs 9 lakh. The accused used a duplicate key to get into the house, said the Versova police.

Speaking to HT, Rochi Ghai, Bhandari’s granddaughter said, “My grandmother was at my Oshiwara residence from June 2 to June 11 as her maid was on leave.” “On Friday night, she returned to her flat and found the gold jewellery kept in the bedroom cupboard missing,” said Ghai. “The maids had access to the house keys. My grandmother even called the watchmen if any help was required. The accused could be someone amongst them.”

In another instance, cash and a digital camera collectively worth Rs 98,000 was stolen from the office of a furniture factory in Vile Parle. “The accused broke open the window grill where the AC was fitted,” said sub-inspector Devidas Mupade of Vile Parle police station.

In the third incident, cash and mobile handsets collectively worth around Rs9 lakh were stolen from a mobile retail shop in Khar on Friday night.
