On Saturday, Jitendra Dashrath dumped his motorbike, mobile phone and all identity proof in Mankhurd. A passing police van noticed this and informed the family. A search then began in earnest, as the family believed Dashrath had been murdered.

Dashrath, employed with a Kanjurmarg firm, was finally located at his native place Revdanda near Alibaug. He told police that he was frustrated and had decided to leave his past behind and start a new life in his village, the Mankhurd police said.

“Dashrath was frustrated as he had fought with his family members earlier and later ended up having a fight at his workplace, too. He says he was fed up and decided to leave everything behind and start a new life,” SS Rajput, senior inspector, Mankhurd police station.

Dashrath used to regularly tell his wife Jayshree that he would take sanyas (renounce his worldly life) and had even run away from home three years ago, the senior inspector said.

No police action will be initiated against Dashrath who has a 12-year-old son.
