The Mahim police on Wednesday arrested a 29-year-old history-sheeter for allegedly raping a 11-year-old girl following a spat with her family members.
The Mahim police on Wednesday arrested a 29-year-old history-sheeter for allegedly raping a 11-year-old girl following a spat with her family members.
The accused identified as Mohammad Farid Jafar Shaikh was arrested from his residence in Naya Nagar, Mahim.
The police say Shaikh, who was inebriated, had a tiff with the victim’s uncle. He left soon after, but returned three hours later with a chopper and kidnapped the victim.
The victim’s family approached the police and a case of kidnapping was registered against Shaikh. The police arrested Shaikh and rescued the girl.
The Mahim police also arrested Shaikh’s accomplice Mohammad Ismail, 29, on
the charge of criminal intimidation.
“The accused were presented before the local court and were remanded in police custody till April 23,” said inspector V Kulkarni of the Mahims police station.
