The Meghwadi police said the incident took place around eight months ago. Kure and Sawant had allegedly lured the 14-year-old victim, who also resides in the same locality, to a vacant house in the area where they allegedly raped her. While doing so, one of the accused made a recording on his mobile phone. The police said the accused shared the MMS with a friend a month after raping the victim. Soon, the MMS was being circulated among locals.

A local who received the MMS identified the girl in the video and informed other residents. The locals then submitted a written application to the Meghwadi police. “Both Kure and Sawant are school dropouts and do odd jobs. They were produced in court and have been remanded in police custody till December 15. They have been booked for rape and also under the relevant sections of the Information Technology Act,” said a senior police officer, requesting anonymity.
