Two house break-ins were reported in different parts of the city within past 48 hours with a collective theft of valuables worth Rs3.20 lakh.

The first incident took place in Kherwadi area of Bandra where gold jewellery and watches worth approximately Rs2.28 lakh were stolen from the residence of one Gunaratna Sadavarte.
“The house was locked since the Sadavarte family had gone to Latur. The incident came to light on Friday, when the neighbours found the window grill of the apartment broken,” said sub inspector R Rumale. “We suspect the break-in has taken place in the past 24 to 48 hours,” said an official.
“Once the neighbours found the broken grill, they called up Sadavarte, who alerted his brother Rajratna Sadavarte, 34, in Mumbai. The victim’s brother reported the burglary,” said Rumale.
The second instance was reported from Mulund on Friday. Veerti Shah, 25, discovered the break-in at her parents’ residence in Rameshwar apartments in Mulund west, when she came to the flat at 8.30pm. Shah’s parents were not at home when the incident took place. Gold jewellery worth Rs92,000 was reported missing. The police have registered a case of house break-in.
