The deceased, identified as Sohail Shaikh (19) and Sufian Ansari (18), were residents of Jogeshwari and studied in a college in Andheri. According to the police, Ansari was driving the bike while Shaikh was riding pillion. They were on their way to Bandra (West) to attend a friend’s wedding.

A few passers-by rushed them to Bhabha Hospital and informed the police about the incident. While Ansari was declared dead before admission, Shaikh passed away a few hours later. The police said both Ansari and Shaikh had sustained severe head injuries.

Sub-inspector Janardhan Sonawane of the Bandra police station said: “A speeding taxi rammed into the bike from behind. We have registered a case of causing death due to rash and negligent driving against the unidentified driver.”
