Waiter held for molesting 4-year-old

A 21-year-old waiter at a hotel in Kandivli was arrested for allegedly inappropriately touching a four-year-old girl during a party at the hotel on Monday. HT reports.

A 21-year-old waiter at a hotel in Kandivli was arrested for allegedly inappropriately touching a four-year-old girl during a party at the hotel on Monday.

One of the children, whom the victim was playing with during the party, alerted the girl’s mother, following which the Samta Nagar police was informed about the incident.

Police said the incident took place around 10.30pm on Monday, when the child, along with her parents had gone to a terrace party at a hotel in Kandivli.

The child was playing with a group of children when Kuldeepkumar Shaan, a waiter at the hotel, suspected to be under the influence of alcohol, allegedly told her to come with him under some pretext.

“Shaan then touched the victim inappropriately, when one of the children that the victim was playing with saw him. The child then informed the girl’s mother,” said Nanasaheb Kamble, senior inspector, Samta Nagar police station.

The girl’s mother rushed to the spot, and pulled the victim away, while other guests present there overpowered Shaan.

The Samta Nagar police registered a case and arrested Shaan. Kamble said the accused was booked on charges of molestation.

Shaan was produced before the holiday court that granted him a bail on a surety amount of Rs.10,000.
