Woman, son, crushed under dump truck

Two persons, including an elderly woman, lost their lives at Kashimira, Mira Road, after a speeding dump truck hit the motorbike they were riding on Tuesday morning. The police said the driver of the dump truck had fled.

Two persons, including an elderly woman, lost their lives at Kashimira, Mira Road, after a speeding dump truck hit the motorbike they were riding on Tuesday morning. The police said the driver of the dump truck had fled.

Police said the two persons had been identified as 37-year-old Hitesh Pravin Rajpopat and his 55-year-old mother, Nirmala, both residents of Kasturi Sadan housing society in Nalasopara (East).

Around 8.30am, while Hitesh was riding his bike towards Kandivli from his residence with his mother to attend a relative’s wedding, a speeding dumper suddenly crashed into their bike from the rear.

“Owing to the impact of the collision, the duo was thrown off the bike and their heads came under the wheels of the vehicle,” said an official from Kashimira police station. HTC
