In Mumbai, flash mobs have been used for everything from corporate promotional campaigns to religious festivals.

On Monday, die-hard romantics from across the city will woo their totally unsuspecting partners by breaking into a predetermined classic Hindi film song at a restobar in Andheri (West).

According to the plan, one person will start singing a song for his/her partner and others would join in. The flash mob aims to rekindle old-fashioned romance.

The event called ‘Serenade Your Better Half’ is open to all, but participants are required to register in advance by emailing organiser Tarun Durga. The exact location is not disclosed yet.

“Along with a Facebook invite, we will also email the lyrics of the song to all participants by Sunday. Dividing them into groups, we will share cues on which stanza each group should join in on,” says Durga, head of social innovations agency Cornerstone Digital.

Rishabh Shah, a marketing professional who has registered for the event says, “I am at that stage of my relationship when I need to let her know how I feel. And this is the best possible way of doing that.”
