An FIR has been filed against Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, known for his hit song Ya Ali from the film Gangster, for allegedly showing disrespect to the national flag on Independence Day.
An FIR has been filed against popular Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, known for his hit song Ya Ali from Kangana Ranaut-starrer Gangster, for allegedly showing disrespect to the national flag on Independence Day. Raju Mahanta, RTI activist of Morigaon district in Assam, alleged Zubeen hoisted the Tricolour wearing half pants and did not sing the national anthem and instead crooned a song inappropriate for the occasion at his residence on August 15.
Zubeen Garg, known for his hit Hindi number Ya Ali from Gangster, has sung in 40 languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, Odia, Bengali, Marathi, Nepali, English, Bodo and Karbi. (ZUBEENsOFFICIAL/Facebook)
A photo of the singer, hoisting the Tricolour, was posted on his Facebook page, the FIR added. Police registered the FIR under case number 502/15 (containing defamatory matter) against the singer, who could not be contacted for his reaction.
