Singer Brijesh Shandilya has sung songs such as Trippy Trippy (Bhoomi) and Mera Nachan Nu (Airlift; 2016)

Singer Brijesh Shandilya is enjoying the way his career is shaping up. After crooning songs such as Rocket Saiyaan (Shubh Mangal Saavdhan) and Trippy Trippy (Bhoomi), he has sung the title track for the upcoming film Golmaal Again, starring actors Ajay Devgn, Parineeti Chopra, Arshad Wasi, among many others. But the singer reveals that things didn’t always sail smooth for him. The song was released on September 23.

It was only after his song Banno Tera Swagger for Kangana Ranaut starrer Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015) became a chartbuster that people started recognising him.

“Life mein saara change ussi ke baad aaya (Life changed with that song). Even though people don’t know me by face, but they now recognise me by my voice. Banno song ka singer hona apne aap mein bauhut bada intro hai (Having sung that song is a big deal in itself). It has become much easier for me to meet music directors now, who themselves call me for dubbings, while earlier many would keep changing the meeting time,” he says.

Now that Brijesh has established a name for himself, the 36-year old reveals how he landed the opportunity to sing the title track of Golmaal Again. “I had done a Telugu song Sarrainodu last year. Incidentally, the same music composer S. Thaman, who had composed that track, was roped in for Golmaal too. He recommended my name to Rohit Shetty, the director, who liked my voice and okayed me for it.”

The singer tells us that some industry people have already called him up and told him that the peppy, upbeat track is going to be a big hit with the listeners once it’s released. “Logon ne mujhe phone karke bataya hai ki yeh song bauahut hi bade level par shoot hua hai, aur hit hai. But I am yet to meet Rohit (Shetty; director) himself, since I have been busy shuttling between different cities for live shows.”
