Singer Rishita, who is known for her Punjabi song, Mann ja, says live shows are the most challenging part of her profession. “I was a model initially, and was not used to performing in front of a live audience. When you perform live, you don’t have an option of retakes. It’s spontaneous, and is something that I really had to work on,” she says.

Singer Rishita says it’s easy to release tracks, but tough to make good music.
Singer Rishita says it’s easy to release tracks, but tough to make good music.

Rishita feels getting work in the industry is not tough, making good music is. “It’s very easy to come up with a few songs if you have money, but it’s important to also strike a chord with the audience. It’s not easy to get people to like your music. Sometimes this happens instantly, but it can also take time,” she says.

Talking about how she got into the profession, the singer says it was always her passion. “I was already part of the industry, which is why I had some contacts. But I never had the time to take this hobby forward. I had been writing songs for two years but when my song Manja came out, that was the turning point for me,” says Rishita. “Manja will always be close to my heart, as it was completely my baby. It was a home production and I was involved in each and every aspect of the song. Of course, my family and friends supported me,” she adds.
