Three robbed bikes, a scooter, a countrymade pistol and four knives, allegedly used for threatening their victims, were recovered from their possession, the police said.

The police said that the robbers would target riders with high-end bikes as they would be in possession of cash and valuables. They would mostly conduct their activities from 7.30pm to 10pm and after robbing a bike, they would use it for few days and then sell it to their contacts, the police said.

The police recovered a KTM Duke, Suzuki Gixxer, Bajaj Pulsar and Honda Activa from them.

During questioning, Ravi said that another member Ajay, 25, is his brother. He said they would attend college in the day and then rob people of their bikes in the night.

Ravi also told the police that his brother was roped in by Mukesh, who was also held, to earn a quick buck.

Superintendent of police (city), Dinesh Yadav, said, “A week ago, the group was cordoned off by our team near Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad Expressway. However, they fled the spot after a brief exchange of fire. No one was hurt in the incident and these robbers fled.”

He said on the basis of a tip-off, they laid a trap near FNG roundabout under the jurisdiction of Phase-3 police station. At 11pm, the seven men reached the spot three bikes and a scooter. They were intercepted and failed to produce any document on the spot.

Yadav said that the mastermind of the gang was Mukesh, 25, a resident of Jahangirabad in Bulandshahr. He was active with another person Rahul, 26 and the duo lived in a rented accommodation in Chipiyana village in Bisrakh.

Mukesh has been involved in crimes for the last three years and was wanted in seven criminal cases. The three other accused have been identified as Akash, 23, Bittu, 28, and Mohit, 25, residents of Ghaziabad.
