Flats developed cracks during storm, say Stellar Jeevan residents in Noida
Residents claimed that cracks emerged in more than 80 houses of the society
Residents of Stellar Jeevan residential complex in Greater Noida have alleged that their newly built houses developed cracks after a storm hit the city on Friday.

The Stellar residential complex consists of 18 towers, with nearly 2,000 flats. Around 660 families currently reside in the complex.
Residents claimed their doors broke, window panes shattered and wide cracks appeared on walls in the storm.
“At least four towers of the residential society were affected by the storm. Cracks emerged in more than 80 houses. Window panes fells from top floors and doors were uprooted. It is dangerous to live in this residential complex,” said Husan Pal, a resident.
Residents accused the builder of using cheap construction material for building the complex.
“Why only our complex was so badly affected by the storm? We have had problems with the quality of construction in the past as well. Many flats had developed cracks during an earthquake in April. The builder just applied wall putty on those cracks. This time, the cracks widened and we feel cheated, “said Pal.
Many residents claim that despite paying hefty amount for the possession of the flat, the quality of their houses was lower than what was promised.
“They promised us quality houses while giving possession in 2015, but they have failed. After just six months of possession, my house started developing cracks. This shows that poor quality of construction material was used,” said Anurag Goswami, another resident of the society.
Residents said lack of security and water supply are other issues that they face.
“There is no CCTV camera in the lifts and guards are not familiar with the complex area. Several thefts have been reported in our locality. We were made to pay heavily in the name of swimming pool, gym, tennis court and security guards, but the services are horrible,” Goswami said.
Stellar group chairman RM Sethi, however, refuted the allegations. He claimed that a group of people have been trying to bring a bad name to the group.
“Cracks can emerge due to numerous reasons, including quality of groundwater in the region and other natural causes. We are trying to address every single problem of the residents. Only 20-30 people have issues against us and they are running a negative campaign,” said Sethi.
