Ghaziabad drug dept seizes 12 units from blood donation camp held without permission
The camp was held by two licensed blood banks
The district drug department on Sunday seized 12 units of blood allegedly collected during a blood donation camp organised by two blood banks in Ghaziabad without permission.
Officials of the drug department said that the two licensed blood banks, one based in Vasundhara and the other in Nehru Nagar, held a blood donation camp at Sector 23 in Raj Nagar. Information about the same was passed to the department by some local residents.
“When we reached the camp, we found that 12 units of blood had already been collected from the donors. There was no permission sought for the camp from our department. We have seized the 12 units and sent them to the district hospital,” said Vineet Kumar, drug inspector.
Officials said they have also served a notice to the two blood banks for holding the camp without permission. “We have sought their replies to the notice. Further action will be taken by the department headquarters in Lucknow. The reply from the two blood banks is awaited,” Kumar said.
