A Ghaziabad resident travelling with her family late night after watching a movie took to Twitter and tagged UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav in a video where she alleged harassment by a police constable near Gandhi Nagar.
The brand manager with a private firm shot the video of the constable on April 18 and tweeted the video tagging UP CM Akhilesh Yadav.
“This police guy Abhishek from Ghaziabad police follows our car & harasses my whole family. Shameless @yadavakhilesh,” she tweeted along with the video.
However, there was no response from Ghaziabad police, but one ‘Akhilesh supporter’ using @Akhileshfan came to her help on the micro blogging site and tagged @uppolicepr and UP Director General of Police @javeeddgpup.
Thereafter, the senior officials of Ghaziabad police went into a tizzy and tweeted their mobile number to the woman for her help.

“The constable was on a patrol bike and chased the car when he spotted it late night. He was performing his duty and undertaking a routine checking, fearing some crime. However, the woman told us that he misbehaved and was rude in conversation,” said Salman Taj, superintendent of police at Ghaziabad.
“We reacted immediately and suspected that the constable could be involved in a case of eve teasing. We have warned him to be polite to citizens in future. There was some misunderstanding but the matter stands resolved now,” said Salman Taj, superintendent of police at Ghaziabad.
Even the UP police headquarter responded to the woman over the micro blogging site saying, “pls let us know if there is any problem again.”
Taj said, citizens can connect with Ghaziabad police on Twitter handle @spcitygzb and share their issues and complaints. “This will help us connect better to citizens. We might receive complaints where detailed investigations are necessary and solution cannot be provided immediately. However, we will help out citizens in case of immediate need,” he added.
