The Gautam Budh Nagar police is yet to make a breakthrough into the alleged horse racing episode on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, whose video clip caused a sensation on the social media sites on Sunday.
Noida City SP Arun Kumar Singh said, “We are scanning CCTV footages and the video that surfaced in the social networking sites. On zooming in, we came to know that a couple of vehicles which were chasing the horses on the Expressway bear registration numbers of Delhi. We are extracting their details.”
Meanwhile, the Gautam Budh Nagar police have started search in the surrounding areas and villages, where horses are reared.
There are a couple of farms alongside the Expressway where horses are reared for Polo club, but those horses were not the ones which can be seen in the video, said a police officer.
“It also might not be a ‘race’ altogether, they could be riding back to their homes. The horses were not riding in parallel,” the police official said requesting anonymity. However, the police is probing the matter, he added.
Two horses got on the Expressway near Jaypee Institute in Sector 128 on Saturday morning around 7:30 am. While one horse ran up to 500 meters before getting down from the road, the other horse ran for more than three kilometers before getting down from the Expressway near Amity University in Sector 125.
The video, which was shot by a passerby, shows a brown stallion and a brown-white stallion running on the Expressway, with some bikers and an auto-rickshaws chasing them.
