The national green tribunal (NGT) on Monday issued a bailable warrant against a Greater Noida based realtor, who failed to appear before NGT in compliance to an earlier order delivered on August 22.
On August 22, NGT had directed 12 realtors to be present before this court and tell exact amount of ground water they use for construction. Realtors were also issued show-cause notices for failing to comply NGT's January 11 in which it had banned ground water use for all purposes.
NGT also had issued show-cause notices to the Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway authority chief executive officers including Gautam Budh Nagar district magistrate for failing to implement the NGT’s January 11 ban order.
NGT order on August 22 was delivered after a five member NGT appointed team had found out that 12 realtors were illegally extracting ground water for construction.
On Monday NGT gave more time to 11 realtors and the concerned officials to file their replies as to how much water is being used for building a floor of a particular building.
Next hearing of the case is October 9, on which officials and realtors will tell to NGT how much water they use for constructing a building.
“NGT delivered this specific order on September 9, when both realtor and officials’ advocate argued that it is next to impossible to calculate exact amount of water, which is being used for construction of a building.
But NGT judges including chairman Swatantar Kumar said they will have to tell to tribunal about exact use by October 9,” said Vikrant Tongad petitioner in the case, who demand ban on ground water misuse by realtors.
The chief executive officer of Noida and Greater Noida authority Rama Raman, Yamuna authority chief executive officer PC Gupta, Gautam Budh Nagar district magistrate Hiralal Gupta including 11 realtors’ representatives were present at the hearing.
“The absent realtor will have to pay Rs 20, 000 penalty for non-compliance of the August 22 order. Many realtors are still violating ground water extraction ban order,” said Tongad.
