Noida Authority CEO inspects surface parking facilities
The Noida authority chief executive officer (CEO) Alok Tandon on Tuesday conducted an arbitrary inspection at several surface parking facilities across the city to check if contractors are following guidelines.
After the inspection, the CEO directed contractors to display the layout of the area allotted to them for parking facilities.
The layout display will discourage them from using additional area not allotted to them. The arbitrary inspection was aimed at ensuring discipline at all parking lots allowed on roadsides, officials said.
“We wanted to see if boards displaying details of the parking fee rate, name of the contractor and parking area, etc have been installed by the contractors and whether parking areas are delineated well,” Tandon said.
The CEO, along with other officials, inspected surface parking lots in several areas — parking cluster one in Sector 1, the State Bank of India site in Sector 6, the NMC Hospital site in sector 30 and the Haldiram Sweets site in Sector 63.
“The authority CEO’s driver parked the car and paid the fee to confirm that the contractor is not overcharging. The parking attendant in Sector 63 issued a parking slip through the hand-held parking ticketing machine. The parking slip mentioned the correct time of parking and exit. As per the CEO’s instructions, all contractors have been instructed to put up display boards at their respective sites,” a Noida authority official said.
According to Noida authority guidelines, each contractor is supposed to paint the area allotted to him for running a surface parking lot on roadsides in yellow.
The parking attendant should wear a uniform, put up a board detailing the contract, including the fee, and use a hand-held parking ticket machine to issue slips. “We will continue conducting inspections at each parking site so that contractors do not flout rules. If any contractor is caught, the authority will impose a fine on him and cancel his contract,” the official said.
