A 24-year-old woman was allegedly thrown off the fourth floor of a building by her husband in Ghari Chaukhandi area of Sector 122 on Saturday. The woman sustained severe head injuries and has been admitted to Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi for advance treatment.
The police said Babita’s husband Amar Singh, 26, allegedly pushed her off the building where they were living on rent. On Saturday, around 11pm, Singh allegedly took Babita to the rooftop and pushed her off.
She sustained injuries in the head, arms and spine, the doctors told the police. Babita’s family members, who live in Bulandshahr, were informed by Singh on Sunday.
The couple got married in February 2016 and has an eight-month-old daughter. It is suspected that Babita was pregnant at the time of the incident, the police said.
“Around 4am, Amar called me and told me that Babita has been thrown off the roof by a ‘ghost’. We reached Prakash hospital and doctors asked us to shift her to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. We asked him what he meant by a ghost and then he kept changing his version,” said Babita’s brother Satinder.
Satinder later went to the police station and filed a complaint against Singh, who works in a private company in RK Puram, Delhi, as office assistant .
Satinder alleged that Singh has been demanding dowry from them.
In the complaint, the family members alleged that the couple had a fight on May 26 the family was called Ghari Chaukhandi to intervene and patch up the matter. The complaint states that Babita was beaten up by Singh that time.
Zaheer Khan, SHO, Phase 3 police station, said, “On the basis of the brother’s complaint, we have registered a case of attempt to murder. The matter is being investigated. The truth will be known only after Babita regains consciousness.”
