Three members of ‘tappebaaz’ gang held for stealing laptops, phones in Noida
The police said that the trio belongs to the ‘tappebaaz’ gang, which is active in Delhi-NCR and many members of which were previously arrested.
Three men were held for allegedly breaking the windows of cars and stealing laptops and mobile phones in Bisrakh area of Greater Noida on Tuesday. The police said that the trio belongs to the ‘tappebaaz’ gang, which is active in Delhi-NCR and many members of which were previously arrested.

The police identified the accused as Rashid, 33, Sameer, 33 and Mustafa, 32, of Chuchola in Amroha district. The arrests were made around 2.30pm on Tuesday when the Honda City car in which the trio was travelling was intercepted at Richpal Ghari bridge in Bisrakh.
Anit Kumar, circle officer, Greater Noida -3, said, “The car was intercepted following some inputs. During checking, the accused could not produce the vehicle’s documents. On questioning, they confessed to their involvement in stealing the car.”
Kumar said that Rashid was the head of the gang, which had around 10 members. He said, “There are more than 10 cases registered against each of them across the police stations of Noida and Greater Noida. They puncture tyres and sometimes, they throw oil on the car to distract the driver and then rob commuters of valuables.”
The gang members would break windows of cars that were parked in uncrowded locations. They break the windows and puncture the tyre, Kumar said.
The police suspect that there are around 40 groups, which follow the same modus operandi, are active in the area. The trio was found to have conducted heists and robberies in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu a year ago, the police said.
The police said that Mustafa holds a BA degree, while the two others had cleared class 10 or 12. The police also recovered seven mobile phones, 10 laptops, Rs2,800 and a Honda City car from the accused.
