Two men allegedly involved in chain snatching and thefts were arrested from D Park area in Sector 62, police said on Monday.
According to the police, six cases of snatching and theft are registered against the two - Ravi, 23, and Ajay, 21 - in different police stations of Noida. They are both residents of Shivnagar in Hapur district.
The two were arrested on Sunday around 7:30pm at a police checkpoint. Police said they were riding different motorcycles - a Passion Pro and a Pulsar.
According to the police, when their bikes were intercepted, both the men failed to produce the required documents. On questioning, police said they found that the two had stolen the motorcycles and they were also involved in various snatching and theft cases. A case was registered against them and they were produced in court on Monday afternoon, after which they were sent to jail.
Apart from the motorcycles, police also claim to have recovered three stolen mobile phones and a countrymade pistol from their possession.
“The checkpoint was set up after we received a tip-off that they will approach D Park. During checking, they failed to show us the required documents. During questioning, both of them confessed to their involvement in stealing the bikes from Greater Noida,” said Zaheer Khan, station house officer, Sector 58 police station.
