Harikrishna wins title

A stunning defeat and a draw in the last two rounds made it look like Pentala Harikrishna may suffer a meltdown in the Tata Steel chess champions at Wijk Aan Zee, The Netherlands. But the GM held his nerves to claim one of the biggest titles of his career on Sunday.

Harikrishna held Dimitri Reinderman of Holland to a draw in the 13th and final round to take his tally to nine points.

Delhi’s Sahaj Grover was fifth at seven points. Woman Grandmaster Tania Sachdev finished eighth with six points.
