However, it was the end of the road for Shiva Thapa who lost his men's 56 kg Round of 16 bout 0-3 to Northern Ireland's Michael Conlam.

Devendro gave a good start to India in the discipline on Monday as he won his men's 49 kg Round of 16 bout against Madhushan Gamage of Sri Lanka 3-0.

While the Olympic quarter-finalist won his first two rounds with identical scores of 29-28 from the judges, he notched up a perfect 30-27 score in the third round. The Manipuri will take on Scot Aqeel Ahmed in the last eight on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Vijender also won his men's 75 kg Round of 16 match in flying fashion as he impressed the judges with his skills to win all three rounds with the same scoreline of 30-27 against Namibia's Mujandjae Kasuto.

The Olympic bronze medallist will take on Aaron Prince of Trinidad and Tobago on Wednesday.

Jangra also booked a berth in the quarters after winning his bout against Kestna Davis in the men's 69 kg Round of 16 later in the day.
