Almost all the events held on Wednesday demanded heaps of endurance, but lack of sustained effort not only saw medal chances of home team riders diminishing, it eventually led to them finishing at the back of the pack.

Upcoming rider, Rohit, finished 11th in the junior men's time trial event. Sunita Devi’s weak legs failed to carry her forward as she finished 12th in the individual time trial event. The performance of the other Indian riders too was not so encouraging.

The spotlight was on Mongolia’s Enkhjargal Tuvshinjargal who made history by winning the country's first gold in women's individual time trial. The silver and bronze went to Japan’s Minami Uwano and Hong Kong’s Wan Yiu Jamie respectively.

“I’d planned my race, it worked out for me,” said the Mongolian.

It wasn’t a day to rejoice for Pakistan. After visa woes, the squad failed to comply with visa rules on arrival in the Capital and ended up paying a huge fine.
