Nine nations to clash in Asian Archery Grand Prix

Nine countries from Asia and Europe will vie for honours at the fourth Asian Archery Grand Prix to be held here Sep 16-19.

Nine countries from Asia and Europe will vie for honours at the fourth Asian Archery Grand Prix to be held in Kolkata on Sept 16-19.

Apart from hosts India, Bangladesh, Iran, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Singapore, Hong Kong, Bhutan and Nepal are participating in the four-day championship at the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Eastern Centre, Salt Lake.

The team and individual finals are scheduled for Sep 19, Archery Association of India secretary general Paresh Nath Mukherjee said in a statement here Monday.

The tournament -- a FITA World Record and World Ranking event -- has been allotted to India by the Asian Archery Federation.

FITA International Judge Committee Chairman Morton B. Wilmann, will be present for the technical conduct of the championship.

The Indian contingent for the championship:

Recurve:

Men: Jayanta Talukdar, Rahul Banerjee and Mangal Singh Champia.

Women: Rimil Buriuly, Dola Banerjee and Reena Kumari.

Compound:

Men: C. Srither, Chungda Sherpa and Jayantilal Ninama.

Women: Jhano Hansdah, Manjudha Soy and Namita Yadav.
