Orissa dominate opponents

Schools from Orissa had a good outing on Sunday in the 28th Nehru sub-junior hockey tournament at the National Stadium here.

Schools from Orissa had a good outing on Sunday in the 28th Nehru sub-junior hockey tournament at the National Stadium here.

In the first match of the day Birsa Munda Vidyapitha, Rourkela, Orrisa thrashed New Haryana Public School, Lakhan Majra, Rohtak, Haryana 11-1.

Prakash Barla of Orissa scored the first goal for his team in the sixth minute. Rohtak could score their only goal in the 19th minute but after that Orissa dominated the whole match scoring four goals in the first half.

In another match Town High School, Sundergarh, Orissa defeated Spring Dale Senior Secondary School, Amritsar 2-1. Orissa scored their first goal in the 19th minute but Amritsar cameback well in the 35th minute. Ten minutes later however Orissa scored another one thereby not giving any further chance to the opposition.

Other games saw Srimati Lalmuni Singh Higher Secondary School, Ghazipur (UP) beat BGSUS Senior Secondary School, Khadoor Sahib, Amritsar 1-0 and Government model Senior Secondary School, Ladowali, Jalandhar defeated St. Ignatius, High School, Gumla, Jharkhand 3-1.
