The director-in-charge of Sonepat Centre has been asked to provide an explanation.
Rajesh Malhotra, director (media & communications), Sports Ministry, said that appropriate action will be taken.
HT had highlighted how funds from Sonepat Centre’s horticulture maintenance pool were diverted to construct and maintain a six-hole mini golf course in the campus even though the sport does not figure in the list of SAI disciplines.
Due to the diversion of funds, many other segments in the campus were neglected. Moreover, the course also does not figure in the government-approved plan.
Sources say the golf course has been made exclusively for the recreation of a few.
