"The state was put on high alert to maintain peace and communal harmony during the celebrations," Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters) Neelmani told PTI.

Deployment of security personnel have already been made in all vulnerable and sensitive locations and patrolling has been intensified, he said.

Jawans of Rapid Action Force (RAF) have been posted in the communally-sensitive areas of Patna and Bhagalpur, Neelmani said, adding that the Special Auxiliary Police (SAP) and Bihar Military Police (BMP) personnel were also engaged to assist District Armed Police to maintain law and order.

A team of police officers at the state police headquarters in Patna would keep watch on the situation across the state, he said.
