Debananda Konwar takes oath as Bihar governor

Debananda Konwar took oath as the new governor of Bihar in Patna on Monday, an official said. The oath was administered by acting Chief Justice of Bihar High Court Shiva Kirti Singh at Raj Bhawan. Konwar replaces RL Bhatia whose term expired last week.

Debananda Konwar took oath as the new governor of Bihar in Patna on Monday, an official said.

The oath was administered by acting Chief Justice of Bihar High Court Shiva Kirti Singh at Raj Bhawan. Konwar replaces RL Bhatia whose term expired last week.

Konwar, along with his wife, arrived in Patna on Sunday after he was appointed the governor of Bihar. They were accorded a warm welcome.

Konwar, a four time legislator from Assam, was finance minister in the Tarun Gogoi-led government.
