IMA ex-chief accused of raping college student

More than a day after a B.Com student accused a doctor of rape and illegal confinement for 13 days, the senior surgeon and former president of the Bihar unit of the Indian Medical Association continued to roam free on Wednesday. Avinash Kumar reports.

More than a day after a B.Com student accused a doctor of rape and illegal confinement for 13 days, the senior surgeon and former president of the Bihar unit of the Indian Medical Association continued to roam free on Wednesday.

The alleged rapist, Dr Ramesh Prasad Singh, 66, got himself admitted at a heart institute in Patna as the police gave no sign of taking action against him.

"We will obtain the call details of the doctor and carry out a scientific investigation," said DIG (Central Range) Sunil Kumar, on Wednesday.

The victim, who was admitted to the railway hospital near Danapur, near Patna on Tuesday, was brought to the state capital for a medical examination on Wednesday.
