Patnaites will get one-way air connectivity with Bhopal via Lucknow, as the Alliance Air, a subsidiary of Air India, will introduce a new flight beginning August 24.

The routing of the aircraft is such that it will not return to Patna, but instead go to Jaipur from Bhopal via Lucknow.

Jet Airways will also introduce a direct flight between Patna and Bangalore from October 1, allowing Patnaites the luxury of five flights to choose from for Bangalore.

This is the first time any airline will connect the state capitals of Bihar and Madhya Pradesh. Prior to this, the Jet Airways used to operate a flight between Patna and Indore some four years back. The airline has since withdrawn the flight.

Air India station manager Mukesh Kumar said, the Alliance Air flight (AI 9694) will leave Lucknow at 11.50am and reach here at 1.20pm. From Patna, the flight (AI 9693) will leave at 1.50pm to reach Lucknow at 3.30pm. It will leave Lucknow at 4pm to reach Bhopal at 5.40pm.

From Bhopal, the flight (AI 9694) will leave for Lucknow at 6.10pm and reach there at 7.50pm. Instead of returning to Patna, it will go to Jaipur at 8.20pm and reach there at 10.15pm.
